Windows Antivirus Clients

Windows Antivirus

With so many options to choose from selecting a good trustworthy antivirus client is hard.  Every computer that is connected to the internet (today that would be almost every computer) needs to have Antivirus software installed.

Your Antivirus software is your first line of defense against threats to your computer.  With todays advanced hacking techniques malware and viruses can try to infiltrate your computer from something as simple as visiting a website with a corrupt ad.  The Antivirus client should stop most threats before they infect your computer.

If you rely on the built in Windows Antivirus software, Windows Defender (Included with Windows 8), you only receive a baseline detection rate of 83.3%.  That means that it will not protect your computer from 16.7% of the common threats. Rarely will any Antivirus client stop 100% of the threats, so we recommend a two pronged approach.  Fluid Depiction recommends a good quality Antivirus software along with a secondary line of defense with an Anti-Malware scanner run once a month.

To make things quick and easy links to our two recommended products are listed below along with reasoning.

AVG Antivirus 2015

AVG Antivirus 2015 tests as one of the least performance affecting Antivirus clients.  With a 96% detection rate of zero day malware attacks and a 99% detection rate for common Malware AVG should keep you protected from most common threats.

Malware Bytes Anti-Malware

As a secondary line of defense we recommend running Malware Bytes Anti-Malware.  This software should be run once a month to help detect and remove any malware or viruses that your main Antivirus client has missed.

If you run into other advanced problems with your computer, remember we are just a call or email away!  Several software problems such as malware and other issues can be resolved remotely as well.
